Dr Rhiannon Lloyd-Hughes
Dr Lloyd-Hughes qualified at the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2008, and spent several years working in hospitals in the UK, Brisbane and South Africa. She then completed GP training and a public health scholarship. Dr Lloyd-Hughes feels lucky to have made a permanent move to Perth after her husband took up a consultant neonatologist position at the Children’s Hospital in 2015.
She enjoys all aspects of general practice, especially the opportunities for health promotion. Her personal and clinical experience have led to a passion for looking after couples who are planning pregnancy, as well as those who are pregnant or in the postnatal period. She finds it particularly rewarding working with families experiencing antenatal and postnatal mental health issues.
Dr Lloyd-Hughes feels fortunate in having lots of paediatric consultations, which she thoroughly enjoy. Her additional areas of special interest include otolaryngology, sexual health and chronic disease management.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young boys. Dr Lloyd-Hughes has taken up photography as a hobby, though unsurprisingly doesn’t get to spend much time on this!
