Dr Ian Swingler
Ian is happily married to Christine, another General Practitioner (GP), they have two adult children, a black and tan long-haired miniature dachshund called Charlie and his son Banjo a short-haired red miniature dachshund. Ian grew up in Perth as one of 7 children, attended Hollywood Senior High School and completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) at Curtin University before working as a Hospital Pharmacist in the Northern Territory, at The Mount Hospital and Hollywood Hospital. Whilst working in the private sector, he went on to complete a Master of Business Administration at the University of Western Australia (UWA), returning later as a mature age student to tackle the challenge of studying Medicine, completing at the end of 2011.
Ian undertook his internship at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital before a further 4 years rotating through a broad selection of medical areas at several metropolitan hospitals. He also completed a 12-month country placement in Narrogin working in the local emergency department, managing hospital inpatients and consulting at one of the local general practices.
Ian enjoys family, Charlie & Banjo the Dachshunds, travel, music, AFL, hockey and soccer. His favourite experiences include travelling the trans-Mongolian railway, attending the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and following the Socceroos at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
