Dr Anam Kamran is a specialist general practitioner working full-time at St John Cockburn offering full private billing at all times. Her diverse clinical experience has spanned regional and metro areas in Western Australia, including work at an Aboriginal medical service, which she found very rewarding. Dr Kamran topped the Australian College of General Practitioners’ examination and was nominated for Western Australian Registrar of the year.
Before joining general practice, Dr Kamran worked at Royal Perth Hospital, where she was nominated for the Goatcher Award in recognition of her warm, empathetic care exemplifying the hospital’s Servio (service) motto. Before that, she graduated with top position from King Edward Medical University and received multiple awards in Clinical Medicine. She has authored and contributed to research articles published in well-respected Australian and international journals.
Dr Kamran’s clinical practice is founded on these core values of academic excellence and holistic patient-centred care, which are at the forefront of her work at St John Cockburn. She enjoys all the variety in general practice and the privilege of developing a caring, long-term therapeutic alliance with her patients.
Dr Kamran strongly believes in the importance of having a long-term GP who is easy to communicate with and with whom one can create a mutually respectful, trusting rapport that grows over time. She is passionate about providing up-to-date evidence-based care that is tailored to individual patient needs and goals, working in partnership with her patients to optimise their mental and physical well-being.
Dr Kamran has done extra training in skin cancer medicine, child/adolescent health, mental health and emergency medicine. She also has special interest in women’s health/antenatal care, sexual health, multicultural health, chronic disease management and preventative care. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, four-wheel driving adventures, playing table tennis and travelling.
