St John Dental supports Dental Health Week 2023: Mind, Body, Mouth – It’s all connected!

At St John Dental, we are excited to be supporting Dental Health Week which takes place from 7-12 August 2023. Dental Health Week is an important initiative aimed to raise awareness about the significant connection between oral health and overall well-being. This year’s theme, “Mind, body, mouth: It’s all connected,” highlights the critical role oral hygiene plays in maintaining a healthy body.

The health of the mouth influences the rest of the body with a range of medical conditions affected by,
or affecting, oral health. These include heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s Disease, adverse pregnancy outcomes, lung conditions and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

It is clear to see how great an impact oral health has on the body’s overall health.

Prioritising good oral hygiene helps improve not only the health of your mouth but reduces the effects disease within the mouth may have on other chronic conditions.

To maintain good oral health, St John Dental encourages everyone to do the following:

  1. Brush teeth twice a day using fluoride toothpaste.
  2. Clean between your teeth every day using floss or interdental brushes.
  3. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and limit added sugar intake.
  4. Visit the dentist regularly for check-ups and preventative care.

Now is the perfect opportunity to book an appointment with one of our knowledgeable and experienced dentists. A face-to-face consultation will ensure your dentist can provide you with the best possible advice on taking care of your smile, as well as answer any questions you may have. Visit one of our clinics or book now.
